The Honourable Roger Alexander serves as the Member of Parliament for Tunapuna in the 13th Republican Parliament and holds the distinguished portfolio of Minister of Homeland Security. A commanding presence with decades of frontline experience in the crime fighting arena, Minister Alexander brings to national leadership the grit, discipline, and deep operational knowledge of a seasoned law-enforcement professional.
Before entering public office, Minister Alexander built an impressive career in the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service, rising to the rank of Senior Superintendent. His final assignment saw him at the helm of the Anti-Extortion Unit, where he coordinated high-risk operations, dismantled criminal networks, and led intelligence-driven strategies aimed at protecting vulnerable communities.
His reputation for courage and decisive leadership was cemented during his years combating drug-trafficking gangs throughout Port of Spain, his work drew international recognition when he was featured in the 2014 Vice News documentary “Corruption, Cocaine and Murder in Trinidad.”
Minister Alexander is also widely known and respected by the public for his impactful presence on the TTPS’s Beyond the Tape television programme on TV6, where he served as co-host. His engaging, no-nonsense communication style, combined with his ability to connect with everyday citizens, made the show one of the country’s most trusted sources of crime prevention guidance and policing insight.
