Gender In the Criminal Justice System

Through the “Gender in the Criminal Justice System” project, in collaboration with the Executive Secretariat of the Inter-American Commission of Women (CIM), the Executive Secretariat of CICAD seeks to generate data, raise awareness, and build capacity to promote the design and implementation of gender-sensitive alternatives to incarceration (ATI) programs and policies in OAS Member States.

As part of the ongoing commitment to advancing inclusive and evidence-based drug policies, the National Drug Council partnered with the OAS/CICAD to host a three-day initiative under the Gender in the Criminal Justice System program. This initiative brought together key national stakeholders from across the criminal justice, health, and social service sectors to explore the intersection of gender, drug policy, and criminal justice reform.
