Maritime Narco-Trafficking Meeting

In 2024 Trinidad and Tobago had the pleasure of chairing the Maritime Narco-Trafficking Meeting in collaboration with Organization of the American States. This meeting provides a forum for OAS member states to exchange information and best practices to counter maritime and riverine drug trafficking. The group aims to foster inter-institutional, regional and international cooperation. Key issues highlighted include, submersibles and synthetic drugs.

The aim of these meetings was to:
  1. Provide a forum for the exchange of best practices on the control of maritime and riverine drug trafficking in OAS member states;
  2. Support OAS member states to increase their maritime and riverine interdiction capacities; and
  3. Foster interagency, regional, and international cooperation.
